Captain Richard Walterman, Miami Police Department, Miami, FL

Captain Richard Walterman entered his 30th year of service in the Miami Police Department in 2011. He is currently in charge of
the City of Miami Police Department's Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security. In this assignment he prepares the
Department for the potential of terrorist activity through training programs and public interaction and education programs. He
currently serves as event commander for many major events that occur throughout the city on a regular basis. These events include
street festivals, large concerts and multiple day festivals that attract hundreds of thousands of people. While assigned as the
Traffic Unit Commander he coordinated motorcade escorts for dozens of Presidential and high level dignitary visits to the City of
Miami. Other dignitaries included the Vice-Presidents and former Presidents. He has also coordinated motorcade support for many
Heads of State from several foreign nations.
